WHAT IS AGSS?
Otherwise known as Anaesthetic Gas Scavenging Systems, AGSS enhances the safety of those working with waste anaesthetic vapours or gases. Our systems are designed for use specifically within the veterinary industry and use technology which is used commonly in medical practice on humans.
Studies into the impact of persistent exposure to anaesthetic gases and vapours concluded that there were several risks, including:
- Reduced Audio-visual Response
- Decreased Fertility Levels in Females
- Impact on the Kidneys and Liver
- Risks of Spontaneous Abortion
- Increased Chance of Cancer in Females
- Congenital Abnormalities in Children
In particular, the Barnsley Receiver Co-Axial Airbreak is an efficient option available. It uses a tenth of the power of the hospital equivalent, keeping costs down. On top of this it is easy and simple to move as a result of its compact and lightweight pump.
We offer a variety of veterinary products for sale across Bristol, including:
- Gas Bottle Storage Cabinets
- Active Anaesthetic Gas Scavenging Systems

PIPED MEDICAL GAS SYSTEMS
Either Oxygen, Medical or Nitrous air is supplied from these systems using gas bottles. They are heavily used within the human medical industry and are monitored by computerised alarm systems, keeping patients safe. Those that we supply are for use within the veterinary profession and are all in accordance with BS EN 737 regulations.
We install these systems using HP hose as this is flexible, easy to install, and requires minimal maintenance over time. As these hoses can melt in the event of a fire, we ensure that FBAs (Flash Back Arrestors) are fitted to keep all equipment safe and in line with regulations.
